American Addiction Centers: This Is Truly Groundbreaking

The AAC (American Addiction Centers) is the place to go if someone is dealing with any type of addiction. There is not a place out there that even comes in second. They are that good. They are at the top of their game.

They have earned that status through their reputation and their work. The word of mouth on this place is top notch, as people walk away from it having their lives changed for the better after dealing with addiction for a number of years. They thought they would never find a cure and they would be stuck in this position forever. The American Addiction Centers has given them a new lease on life.

They have locations all over, and they have a top-notch staff as well. Not just anyone can work at the American Addiction Centers. It takes a special person with compassion, heart, and empathy for the people that walk through their doors.

They are truly all in when it comes to helping them out. They are along for the highs and the lows that come with addiction. As the expression goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” but even so, it is worth it when they see someone finally overcome addiction.

They will have all of the tools to be able to stay away from further addiction as well in the future. The temptation might always be there, but they are now strong enough and powerful enough to ignore it and not let it get the best of them.

Now, the AAC is making its way to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter with their brand-new docuseries, “Far From Finished.” It can also be viewed on the AAC’s website as well. It has already received rave reviews for the honesty in which it shows addiction. It tells the truth about it, and viewers get to hear from recovering addicts as they share their stories.

It is the kind of show that has the power to influence people and change the world. A lot of people don’t understand something unless it is put in front of them and explained to them in a visual medium. When that happens, they learn what it is all about, what it means, and why so many people struggle with it. They also become encouraged and optimistic when they see that someone is no longer in addict and they have been in recovery for a number of years.

For the addicts watching it, they will see someone that went through what they are currently going through and they have come out of it stronger for having been battle tested. It shows them this is not the end of the road for them. It is only the beginning.

Stress Causes Weight Gain

Blame the number on the bathroom scales on stress. When your stress level is high, chances are the number on the scales will be high too.

Everyday stress causes the body to release various hormones and cortisol. Cortisol is called the stress hormone and causes our body to go into ‘fight or flight’ mode. Constant stress keeps our body primed and ready to fight or take flight by releasing a constant supply of cortisol. That excess cortisol likes to gather around our mid-section and just hang out and create fat. Not just any type of of fat, but the type that is most dangerous to our health – visceral fat.
Visceral fat goes deep into our bodies and can engulf our internal organs. It’s also very difficult to lose. The more fat that accumulates around our mid-section, the greater risk we have of developing heart disease and diabetes.
As the cortisol is released into our body due to stress, it cause our metabolism to slow down, so we burn fewer calories and build less muscle mass. Even with an regular exercise program and good daily diet, when stress levels are increased, weight will increase too.
Finding a way to reduce and relieve the stress is the only way to lose weight if you ask Mikal Watts. Meditation, yoga or other relaxation methods can help reduce stress, promote health and aid in weight loss.

Antibiotics And Appendicitis

In the United States, there are as many as 300,000 Americans that are rushed to the hospital each year from a case of appendicitis according to Boraie Development. These people are rushed into an operating room to have their appendix taken out as an emergency fix and to prevent the appendix from bursting; which can be fatal if this occurs. Some doctors are now suggesting, however, that antibiotics might be an alternative cure for a case of appendicitis. Five studies were completed in total in Europe. Over 1,000 patients were studied and given antibiotics as a primary treatment for their appendicitis. Seventy percent of the patients who were given the antibiotics were cured from this treatment alone and were not sent to surgery to have anything removed.

While antibiotics might not be an effective form of treatment for all patients, it is effective for some, and sometimes it is safer and smarter to avoid surgery. Especially in elderly patients that should avoid risky surgeries all together. More clinical trials are set to take place in the future to more thoroughly compare patients who receive antibiotics for appendicitis versus those who immediately have their appendix taken out. The preliminary results seem promising and it will be beneficial and much simpler if surgery can be avoided in many cases.
